Sign upSAYE has fought against deforestation since 2018 allowing all of its customers to take part in their project.
First developed back in February 2017 under the name Wado, Marta (currently the CEO) asked her co-founders Lizzie and Damian to join. Both immediately jumped at the idea.
The concept of planting trees with every purchase wasn’t a new one… but with a Kickstarter campaign on the horizon, the hope was that they’d at least generate enough funds to cover some of the first production costs. From that moment, they’ve been fully dedicated to the project; dealing with suppliers. developing prototypes, and preparing for the aftermath of an extremely successful Kickstarter campaign.
Their first Kickstarter campaign would lead them to produce over 7,000 pairs of shoes. That’s when they knew that this could be an incredible success. After the campaign, they decided to launch under a completely new name, SAYE. At that point, they became the most funded Spanish fashion project ever. After, they moved the campaign to Indiegogo where they would use it as their primary sales channel until they became mature enough… It allowed them to expand on the project and turn it into an actual company.
Fast forward to 2019, they officially closed the Indiegogo campaign and opened up their first full-scale eCommerce shop.
Now, in 2021, they develop their products out of Portugal to be fully focused on developing vegan products, fair pay, and safe working environments. Both suppliers they’ve partnered with, You Shoes and Eyand, are known for their fully sustainable practices and fair EU working standards.
SAYE has really primed itself to be a sustainable beast - they’ve set ethical standards that are guaranteed and are hyperfocused on using local materials to reduce carbon footprint… which has become an increasing issue in the fashion industry.
