Men's Fall Fashion Trends To Watch Out For In 2021

Although we’re in the full swing of summer, fall fashion trends are starting to pop up.

Men's Fall Fashion Trends To Watch Out For In 2021

LEATHER

AMRI, VOGUE

Leather continues to make itself timeless, especially this year. And fall and winter styles aren’t an exception. With this season, we’ve got a Neo-Matrix revival of the 90s with larger and ultra-long leather coats. We’re seeing heavy showings with brands like Fendi, Balenciaga, and Casablanca making this a priority at their runway shows.

RED

Red is making a resurgence this fall but with a different approach. It’s taking on a bohemian and streetwear style. And there’s still some serious elegance behind it as seen by Casablanca’s recent fall suit styles. I’ve noticed a lot of red pinstripes and across the board, especially with Fall 2021 drops by Martine Rose.

NEW TAILORING

TOM FORD, VOGUE

There has been a serious focus on tailoring this fall. Tons of experimental works are out there. We’re almost seeing a complete overhaul in some of the old principles of tailoring. And brands like Dolce & Gabbana and Prada are leading the charge. We’re familiar with oversized clothing, but it’s taking a different turn with more zippers, belted coats, and even rolled-up sleeves.

VARSITY JACKET

What used to be an outdated style over the last 5 years, Varsity Jackets have slowly crept into the fall and winter 2021 styles. And you’ll see a ton more of it as the year goes by. Different colorways, tailoring, and other cuts are being shown by Louis Vuitton and Burberry.

SKI-WEAR

Technical materials are always being worked on by designer brands. That’s because they give unique flexibility on styles and can create serious trends that could last a lifetime. And ski-wear is one of those that these brands are taking on. Bringing a 70s vibe, but with a twist. Things like ski suits and unique colorways are providing to be really awesome fall/winter items to hit the slopes.

SWEATER VESTS

I know what you’re thinking. Sweater vests? No, it can’t be. But yes it’s true. It’s making an aggressive comeback this year. And the style that’s been forgotten for many years is adding its own twist with floral patterns and contemporary styles. Hermès has led the charge on this, recently headlining the look at their Fashion Week for Autumn-Winter 2021.

LARGE TROUSERS

Moving farther and farther away from skinny jeans, and really embracing the old-school skater look, brands are continuing to push the boundaries on how big pants will get for this fall. As people turn for freedom and comfort, trousers have reached the point of XXL status. And it’s not just for the streetwear look. We’re seeing this with suits and even XXL shorts. It’s officially in and it’s something you should pay attention to.

COUTURE DRESSING GOWNS

LOUIS VUITTON, THE ROW, FENDI, VOGUE

One of my favorite trends coming this fall is the couture dressing gowns. Robe-like coats that layer perfectly with suits, and other formal wear. The bathrobe-inspired look creates a classic yet elegant feel that I’m really into. And Louis Vuitton and Fendi are taking this trend to the stratosphere with some seriously awesome looks.

TURTLE NECK

JILL SANDER, VOGUE

Turtle necks can be a choice look at times. They can fit awkwardly, and if it’s not paired right you could look like a moron haha. But brands like Hermès are taking this look head-on; with higher looks and more colorful patterns. Giving it the fresh revamp that it needed.

POLOS

JILL SANDER, VOGUE

In lieu of the Olympics (Ralph Lauren partners with the USA team for years on their looks) it’s fitting that we’re seeing Polos come back. Although it’s known for a casual look, Prada and Hermès are taking this on by bringing the look with suits and taking on the popularised look from the 1920s.

NAUTICAL

I’m absolutely for the nautical look coming back. You’ll feel like you’re sailing the high seas with the resurgence of fisherman beanies, Breton tops, and other dock-worker staples as it starts to make its way back into mainstream fashion. It’s even garnered the nickname “shipster” at runway shows. I think they could have picked a better name in my opinion haha.

1970s LOOK

VOGUE

With 90s looks taking over the last few seasons, we’re slowly seeing the 70s come back in a ton of these runway styles. Bohemian looks, flared-out polos, unique colorways and different takes on tailoring are bringing the styles back. Fresh florals, bomber jackets, corduroy, and much more are what you should expect from brands like Gucci, who have fully embraced the trend.
