Since I was a kid, I loved breaking the rules.
And slowly that transformed my fashion sense over the years. So why are many of us afraid to try something new?
This is why I’ve debunked 5 myths that have shaped male fashion over the last 200 years.
Don’t worry… It took me a while to challenge the way I dress. It takes time to get out of your own way. So leverage these tips when it comes to challenging your fashion sense. You won’t regret it.

🧺 brand of the week: Sadire
Sadire was created by Dan Hoban during a period of his life where he was struggling heavily with depression. Sadire was a way for him to deal with some of those negative thoughts, and it started quite literally as "a sad kid going to his local t-shirt shop and putting his emotional poems on a shirt" and then quickly evolved into something much more. Sadire stands for Sad Attire and Satire and is an imperfect combination of humor and sadness. Sadire is a way for people to not only deal with sadness but to find humor in it.
👻 5 myths debunked
you need a great body to look good: FALSE
What you do with your body is your own damn business. This is why needing a great body to look good is completely false. If you can find the right resources. The first tip is to know your measurements. Sounds rudimentary, but if you’ve got your neck size, arm length, chest, etc… you’ll make it easy on yourself to find the right fit.
The second is to find brands that work for your body. Every brand fits differently. Once you find “the one” don’t be afraid to stick to it. It’s OK to have a small rotation of brands.
Lastly, your scale can be a mindfuck for your fashion picks. Don’t let it.
1. know your measurements
2. find the right brands that work
3. don’t let the scale deter you
dressing well costs a lot of money: FALSE
Thrifting is an x-factor because fashion has never been more democratized. Head to a Goodwill (or a local thrift shop) and comb through the store. You’ll be surprised at what you find and what you can repurpose.
2. second online shops depending on taste
3. fast fashion
pink is a no go: FALSE
I’m a firm believer in colors. I wasn’t always like that though. Build your confidence by starting small and trying things you wouldn’t typically. Try it from a brand you trust. That way you’re a little more comfortable in your skin. Continue to test the waters till your comfortable jumping all in.
1. trust your confidence
2. find the right match
3. don't overdo it
black and brown is a no-go combination: KINDA FALSE?
It can be. All black with a brown jacket can look great. The latter, not so much… There’s a grey area with this because you’re dealing with two very distinct and foundational colors. Go with your best judgment. It feels like it’s too much it probably is haha.
Accessorizing only helps here. It adds another layer to your fit that will balance out the black and brown. Things like a chain necklace, rings, or hats can add flair.
1. grey area
2. look for the right shade of brown
3. keep an eye on your accessories
don't mix patterns: FALSE
I’m for pattern mix-up - all day every day. The bolder the better. But some rules do apply. NEVER mix horizontal and vertical lines together. It does more harm than good. And it’ll add 10 lbs to your look, which is something we don’t want.
Really think about which items you want to pattern interrupt. Shirt and tie? Great idea. Shirt and pants? Now that’s overdoing it.
1. watch straight lines
2. go for it
3. be smart with your item choice
